News outlets encouraged to join hands with government in promoting charity

Ministry of Civil Affairs, Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC, 国家互联网信息办公室), and State of Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television of PRC (SAPPRFT, 国家广电总局) jointly published a notice recently to encourage news outlets to "cooperate" with government departments in promoting philanthropic activities and "honouring" charitable contributions by businesses and individuals.

MOCA explains social organizations’ GDP statistics

On July 30th, Caixin News reported that, according to Shanghai Jiao Tong University's Center for the Third Sector's report, the official GDP data of social organizations is far less than the actual data. State Council “Suggestions” to promote public service public-private partnerships

On May 19th, the State Council passed the "Suggestions for Promoting Partnerships between Government and Social Capital in Public Service" (关于在公共服务领域推广政府和社会资本合作模式的指导意见) which was drafted by the Ministry of Finance, National Development and Reform Commission, and the People’s Bank of China. The State Council asked all provincial governments to follow the newly published Suggestions in the hope that it will promote public-private partnerships.

Amity Foundation starts special philanthropic fund for WW2 veterans

The Amity Foundation, together with the Nanjing and Jiangsu Committees of the National Democratic Construction Association (NDCA, 民建江苏省委 and 民建南京市委) have held a signing ceremony at the Nanjing Civil Resistance Against Japan Museum that marks the establishment of a special fund (公益基金) dedicated to helping Chinese veterans of the Sino-Japanese war. Huimin Hong, the deputy Director of the NDCA spoke at the ceremony and said that the Fund was established to mark the Chinese victory in the conflict. Hong also said that he hoped that Chinese society would pay more attention towards caring for veterans of the war.
