  • Peaceland Foundation provides assistance to Zimbabwe against Covid-19

The Peaceland Charity Foundation (平澜公益基金会), a Beiiing-based foundation created in 2018 that focuses on international aid and disaster relief, donated a second batch of anti-epidemic material to the Republic of Zimbabwe on July 17 through the Zimbabwean Embassy in China, including 20 machines that can disinfect the air.

Prior to this, the Peaceland Foundation had already assisted the Southern African country in the procurement, dispatch and installation of various equipment of use against the pandemic. It also donated 10 air-disinfecting machines, 200 sets of protective clothing, 200 pairs of protective masks, 400 bags of chlorine-containing disinfection effervescent tablets and other protective equipment and material to Zimbabwe.

According to official figures, Zimbabwe has had a relatively limited number of Covid-19 cases compared to neighbouring South Africa, now one of the worst-hit countries worldwide. Since the first case appeared in March, Zimbabwe has seen a total of 25 deaths attributed to the new virus. However, the economy has been severely impacted by the measures taken to stop the virus from spreading.
