  • Alumni from Fudan, Tsinghua and China Agricultural University shown to be the most generous donors

On June 7th, the Hurun Research Institute released the “2016 Hurun Philanthropy List”, which shows that alumni from Fudan University, Tsinghua University and China Agricultural University donate money the most generously.

Donations in the field of education mainly consist of donating money to one’s own alma mater. The list shows that Fudan University, Tsinghua University and China Agricultural University successively received the most donations. Other universities which have received more than 100 million yuan from their alumni include Peking University, Shenzhen University, the South-Western University of Finance and Economics and Sun Yat-Sen University. People are also making more and more donations to universities unrelated to them. For instance, entrepreneur Chen Yidan donated a large amount of money to construct Wuhan College, and his counterpart Xie Zhikun donated money to Fudan University.

It also can be seen from the previous years’ list that donors in the field of education and disaster relief account for about half of the total donors in the investigation sample. This year donors in the field of education continue to maintain a dominant status, making up 46% of the total.
