  • New research center aims to attract international NGOs

The Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS) and the Managing Committee of Shanghai Pilot Free Trade Zone recently hosted the opening ceremony of the Qiantan Research Center of the SIIS and a seminar on attracting international organizations to settle in Shanghai.

Founded in 1960, the SIIS is one of China’s top research institutes and think tanks. Qiantan Research Center has been established to create a development zone for international organizations, with the aim of attracting NGOs, particularly high-profile organizations based abroad, to set up offices in Qiantan, which will help the Pudong district to further open up.

In addition to officials from the SIIS and the managing committee, representatives from international organizations also attended the ceremony and a seminar to discuss the challenges and opportunities for international organizations settling and operating in Shanghai.
