In August 2015, Gender In China (女权之声), one of the most influential feminist groups in China, conducted a web-based survey on Chinese women’s satisfaction with their current living status. The web survey was conducted through Weibo and Wechat, both of which are popular online social media in China. According to Gender In China, the survey is not a strict academic research and the research participants are mainly young people.
The preliminary results of the survey have now been published by the group. Based on 3094 valid questionnaires collected within three months, the results suggest that 73% of the participants are dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with their current living status, and 44% of them are dissatisfied or very dissatisfied with the progress of gender equality advocacy in China. But 55% of the respondents are still optimistic about the future development of gender equality in China.
