China Development Brief (CDB) is looking for an English Communications Officer to work with its English communications team. This is a unique opportunity for someone interested in contributing towards the development of China’s emerging civil society. It is a full-time position at CDB’s office in Beijing. A fluent level of written and spoken English is a prerequisite.

China Development Brief was founded in 1996 and registered in 2017 as an NGO titled the Beijing E-Share Civil Society Information Center. As a Chinese non-profit organization, we serve as a bilingual hub providing information, communication, services and networking to NGOs, foundations, development practitioners, businesses, researchers, and policy makers. Our mission is to promote the sustainable development of China’s civil society through information and experience exchange, and by facilitating the free flow of resources for NGOs.

The Officer will play an important role in information selection, translation, and communication platform maintenance. He/she will report to CDB’s English Communications Director, and to CDB’s Executive Director.

 

Location: Beijing, China.

Start Date: As soon as possible. Exact date to be confirmed

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

1, Maintaining CDB’s English-language website (www.chinadevelopmentbrief.org), social media channels and newsletter.

2, Managing the regular selection, translation, and editing of Chinese-language news and articles.

3, Writing original articles and reports on China’s civil society sector.

4, Assisting the English Communications Director in relevant work

 

Qualifications:

Postgraduate degree preferred.

Strong fluency in English required.

Excellent writing skills.

A team player who is collegial, culturally sensitive, and patient.

Knowledge of and commitment to China’s NGO sector.

Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

Previous volunteer and management experience in an NGO a plus.

This position is open only to Chinese citizens.
