  • Volunteers clock up over 5000 hours serving local community

Chunyu Volunteer Group is an organization based in Chaoyang District, Beijing. It has been serving the local community since its establishment in 2009. Eighteen years on, the group still holds on to its original aspiration of prioritizing residents’ needs and supporting the elderly and disabled.

Recently, the group received a call from an elderly resident surnamed Gao, asking for help with carrying his wife who had to be in a wheelchair. Gao’s building has no elevator and taking his wife home from a recent stay in hospital proved impossible for him.

After receiving the call, the Chunyu group immediately gathered volunteers to assist Gao and his wife.

This is not the first time Chunyu volunteers have offered on-call help to local residents. Since 2009, they have been visiting people’s houses and have offered support over 500 times, with volunteers putting in over 5,000 hours.
