  • NGOs likely to be impacted by renewed focus on standards

The Standardization Administration of China recently released the 2023 Guideline on National Standard Establishment intending to strengthen the country’s standardization system and provide better support for economic and social development.

The guidelines set two categories of standards — compulsory and recommended – to be the focus of standardization efforts in 2023. Those that will affect the operation of NGOs fall into the recommended standards category which do not require a mandatory adoption.

In 2023, the Chinese government will support the establishment of recommended standards in areas including education, employment and entrepreneurship, social welfare, minors’ protection, services for disabled people, community services, charity, and NGO work.
