1. The 65th South African Chinese Easter Tournament Concludes Successfully in Johannesburg

From April 3 to 6, 2026, the Southern Africa Chinese Sports Association (SACSA) 2026 Championship, also known as the 65th SACSA Easter Tournament, was successfully held in Johannesburg. The event was organized by the Southern Africa Chinese Sports Association (SACSA) and attracted over 600 athletes from South Africa, Namibia, Réunion, and other regions, with nearly 1,000 spectators in attendance.

The tournament featured basketball, golf, and padel tennis. Young players delivered outstanding performances on the basketball court, while the padel tennis tournament saw a significant increase in scale compared to previous years. All events were highly competitive and created a vibrant atmosphere.

Zhou Maoyi, Minister of the Chinese Embassy in South Africa, attended the closing ceremony and presented awards to the winning teams. The organizers also honored coaches, referees, and support staff.

Having been held for 65 consecutive years, the tournament has become a major cultural and sporting event within the Chinese community in South Africa. Through sports, the event brings the community together, fosters exchanges, promotes integration between the Chinese community and local society, and serves as a symbolic bond connecting people across different ethnic groups and generations.

2. 22nd CCG VIP Luncheon Held in Beijing on Global Governance and China-Europe Cooperation

On April 8, 2026, the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) jointly hosted the 22nd CCG VIP Luncheon in Beijing. Themed “The Future of Global Governance and the Roles of China and Europe,” the luncheon featured in-depth discussions on topics such as the reform of global governance systems, China-Europe economic and trade relations, World Trade Organization (WTO) reform, and how to rebuild mutual trust and expand cooperation in a complex international environment.

The event brought together ambassadors from various countries in China, Chinese and international experts, and representatives from enterprises and the media. During the event, multiple guests delivered keynote speeches, sharing their views on China-Europe trade imbalances, market access, industrial policies, and economic security. Ambassadors from the European Union and other countries made recommendations based on practical considerations. Chinese experts responded actively, stressing the importance of dialogue in resolving differences and maintaining openness to expand cooperation.

The luncheon serves as a high-level platform for international exchange. Attendees generally agreed that China and Europe have no fundamental geopolitical conflicts and share a solid foundation for cooperation. Both sides should jointly uphold the multilateral trading system, stabilize global supply chains, and promote the sustained and steady development of China-Europe relations.

3. Peace Home Project Launched in Gaza to Shelter Displaced Civilians

On April 11, 2026, the Peace Home project in Gaza, jointly initiated and supported by the Beijing Lianxin Charity Foundation, the Beijing One Heart Sphere Charity Foundation, the Loksin Charity Association, the China-Pakistan Youth Exchange Community, and the China Crescent Team, was officially launched, providing temporary shelter for civilians displaced by conflict in Gaza.

The opening ceremony was held in Khan Yunis, Gaza, and attended by Dr. Alaa al-Bata, Mayor of Khan Yunis, and Dr. Ahmed, Director of the International Relations Department of Gaza’s Ministry of Education. Mayor Alaa al-Bata, on behalf of the people of Khan Yunis and Palestine, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chinese people. Dr. Ahmed also extended heartfelt thanks and expressed high appreciation, while calling for similar projects to further assist the local population.

At the ceremony, Chinese national flags were waved by children in Gaza and flown over the Peace Home, becoming a symbol of hope for peace in this turbulent region.

According to reports, the construction of the Lianxin Tent School has been initiated simultaneously in the tent area of the Peace Home. The project aims to help displaced children in Gaza resume their education and restore a sense of stability and normalcy through learning.
