Mother’s labor camp suit to be heard
China Daily/Xinhua, February 6, 2013
Tang Hui, the mother sent to a Re-Education through Labor camp for protesting her daughter’s rape, will present her case to the Yongzhou Intermediate People Court, although the court did not specify when the case would be heard. Tang had appealed her case to the Hunan High People’s Court, in the hopes that another court might be designated to hear the case, thus preventing the interference of local officials. Unfortunately, the court denied her appeal, stating that Tang could ask court officials not to involve themselves in the case if she feels that they would interfere. Tang has asked for RMB 2,463.85 and a written apology.
