Introduction

The World Future Council works in collaboration with civil society, governments, business, and international organizations to ensure that we are able to pass on a healthy planet to future generations.

In China, WFC launched the regenerative cities program in 2015 to help China implement sustainable urbanization reform. The regenerative cities program works on the principle of mimicking the circular metabolic systems found in nature in urban environments. In 2016, the cities of Yuncheng and Huangshi signed an agreement with WFC on urban renewal. The WFC Yuncheng agreement was part of a the larger China-EU Urbanization Partnership, and was signed with Premier Li and EU Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker present.

In 2016, WFC held the fifth session of the Future of Cities Salon and the sixth Future Cities Forum, which brought together local government officials and experts from around the world. In addition, WFC actively promotes its programs on Wechat, in order to raise public awareness.
