On December 1st, the NGO Management Bureau of the Ministry of Civil Affairs publically released the list of candidates for the title of National Outstanding Social Organizations. This title is the highest honor which the Chinese goverment can bestow upon a social organization. The 298 social organizations, private non-enterprise units, and foundations on the list will be awarded the title if no objections are raised during the 7-day public display period starting from December 1st.
According to the Bureau, this title is to confirm the positive contributions of social organizations to the “Four-Pronged Comprehensive Strategy” (“四个全面”战略布局), further stimulate the activities of social organizations, and guide their healthy and orderly development.
