1. Global South Modernization Forum Held in Beijing
On November 21, the Global South Modernization Forum was held in Beijing. Co-organized by the State Council Information Office, the Party School of the CPC Central Committee (National Academy of Governance), the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and Peking University, the forum was themed “Joining Hands Toward Modernization: Shared Vision and Pathways for Development.”
More than one hundred experts and scholars from domestic and international social science research institutions, think tanks, and universities attended the event, engaging in discussions on key theoretical and practical issues related to the modernization of Global South countries.
The forum featured one main session and four parallel panels, covering a wide range of topics, including China’s poverty alleviation and global poverty reduction efforts, ecological and environmental protection along the path to modernization, the relationship between traditional culture and modern life, and the position of the Global South amid global transformations.
Participants agreed that modernization is both a historical trend in human societal development and a shared aspiration of Global South nations. They emphasized that China remains a committed member of the Global South. The Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee has charted the course for Chinese modernization over the next five years, and a more modernized China is expected to create new development opportunities for countries across the Global South.

2. CAU-Tencent Global South Youth Rural Entrepreneurs Initiative launched in Beijing
On November 30, the China-based practical training component of the 2025 Global South Youth Rural Entrepreneurs Initiative officially kicked off. Forty-two young participants and seven national coordinators and advisors from Indonesia, Kenya, Laos, Tanzania, and Uganda gathered in China for a 10-day learning program.
This initiative is an upgraded version of the Africa Youth Rural Revitalization Program jointly implemented by China Agricultural University (CAU) and Tencent in 2024. The expanded program aims to provide a young people from a wider range of countries with a comprehensive platform to strengthen their ideas, knowledge, skills, and capabilities in rural entrepreneurship and modern agricultural management.
Designed to cultivate “rural revitalization talents” capable of driving rural transformation, the program has attracted widespread attention from government departments and media outlets in both China and Africa. During their stay in China, the participants have explored China’s practical experience in agricultural modernization and rural development, gaining valuable insights into nurturing rural youth leaders across the Global South and jointly stimulating rural development momentum.

3. 2025 Asia Philanthropy Forum Held in Boao, Hainan
From November 28 to December 2, the 2025 Asia Philanthropy Forum was held at the Boao Asia Bay International Hotel in Hainan under the theme “Open Collaboration, Innovative Development.”. Guided by the China NGO Network for International Exchanges and co-hosted by the Asia Academy of Philanthropy along with multiple partner organizations, the forum included one main session and eleven parallel panels.
The event announced the “Asia Philanthropy Exemplars” list and organized a series of exchange activities and field visits to facilitate deeper collaboration and the effective implementation of philanthropic projects.
Over 600 attendees, including government representatives, leaders of international organizations, philanthropists, entrepreneurs, and experts from 16 countries and regions, gathered in Boao to discuss philanthropy development in Asia and explore ways to jointly address global sustainable development challenges. The event also attracted more than 900,000 online viewers.
As a major platform convening global philanthropic actors, the forum’s successful hosting helped advance a more open, cooperative, inclusive, and future-oriented philanthropic ecosystem. It contributed a model of philanthropy characterized by extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits to the building of a global community with a shared future.
