The Inner Mongolian Administrative Office of Overseas NGOs presented two Japanese NGOs, the Ethics Research Institute and the Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement-International (一般社团法人伦理研究所 and 公益财团法人奥伊斯嘉), with their registration certificates.
The director of the Administrative Office of Overseas NGOs and the director of the State Administration of Forestry of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region were both present and took part in the discussions. The director of the Administrative Office congratulated the two NGOs and expressed that the Inner Mongolian Administrative Office of Overseas NGOs would continue to offer their support and maintain good relations with foreign NGOs working in civil society in Inner Mongolia. He expressed his hope that the two NGOs can expand their work in accordance with the law to establish friendly Sino-Japanese relations and cooperation in desertification and reforestation efforts, to contribute to building a more beautiful Inner Mongolia. The director of the State Administration of Forestry expressed that his department will fulfil its duties by providing a high level of service and a standardised guide for overseas NGOs operating in Inner Mongolia.
The representatives of the two Japanese NGOs both warmly thanked the two departments and showed their support for future cooperation. They expressed their dedication to develop in accordance to the law and strengthen the ties between the countries to build a beautiful and green Inner Mongolia.
The Ethics Research Institute was founded in September 1945. In 1985 they started their “Earth Ethics” initiative to aid the greening of deserts, and by April of 1999 they started working in the Hobq Desert in Inner Mongolia. In 2014 they started planting trees in the Ulan Desert, founding the Sino-China friendship for the construction of the “Earth Ethics Forest”. Their work has benefited from the contribution of 2800 people, and they have planted 350,000 tress in the Hobq Desert, greening over 2500 hectares of desert, and 100 000 trees in the Ulan Desert, greening 667 hectares.
The Organization for Industrial, Spiritual and Cultural Advancement-International was founded in 1961 with the aim of harmonious development between humanity and nature. In March 2001, the organisation entered Inner Mongolia for the first time, reforesting the area of Alashan. After many years of research the organisation developed a new technology which increased the success rate of planting to 95%. The organisation has organised training for the local residents of Alashan, simultaneously reforesting the desert and increasing the residents’ income. They have successfully planted 735,000 trees, improving the region’s ecological environment.
