On July 11th, the State Council Information Office released the White Paper “Marine Ecological Environment Protection in China” and held a press conference to introduce its content. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and deeply implementing Xi Jinping’s ecological civilization thought, the White Paper systematically introduces China’s policy concepts for building a harmonious marine ecological environment, comprehensively elaborates on China’s coordinated efforts in marine ecological environment protection, systematic governance, and enhancement of green and low-carbon development levels in the ocean. It showcases China’s extensive international cooperation in marine ecological environment protection, promotes the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind’s oceans through practical actions and global contributions, and calls on all countries to jointly protect the marine ecological environment, promote sustainable marine development, and collectively build a cleaner and more beautiful world.
The White Paper consists of a preface, main body, and conclusion, totaling approximately 27,000 words. The main body includes seven sections: 1. Building a harmonious marine ecological environment; 2. Coordinated promotion of marine ecological environment protection; 3. Systematic governance of marine ecological environment; 4. Scientific conduct of marine ecological protection and restoration; 5. Strengthening supervision and management of marine ecological environment; 6. Enhancing green and low-carbon development levels in the ocean; 7. Comprehensive international cooperation in marine ecological environment protection.
The White Paper has been published in Chinese, English, French, Russian, German, Spanish, Arabic, Japanese, and other eight languages by the People’s Publishing House and Foreign Languages Press, and is available nationwide in Xinhua Bookstores.
