Doubts raised about pension system
By Yang Yao, China Daily, February 23, 2013
According to the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, almost 40 percent of 2,000 people surveyed expressed that their pension did not meet their daily living expenses, and only 17 percent felt that their pension was adequate to take care of their expenses. The dissatisfied group was disproportionately located in rural areas, while few government officials were unhappy with their pensions. These complaints indicate the need for pension reform, as different communities are granted different pension programs.
