A document titled “Guidelines on Volunteer Service for the Elderly in Beijing” was released on Dec 5 by Beijing Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau and three other departments.
The guidelines provide a practical roadmap for volunteers to provide services for senior citizens in Beijing, including recruitment, training, evaluation, and incentives.
What is unique about the guidelines is that they provide case studies on top of candid suggestions. The guidelines, in particular, explain volunteer activities under China’s current COVID measures, including helping the elderly get nucleic acid tests and distributing supplies.
