Protecting women’s rights and advocating for gender equality.

Goals

To investigate and assess the situation of women’s rights protection in China through multiple perspectives, to share information, to provide support in lawsuits, and to advocate legislation.

Major Projects

• 2006 – Present, “Protection and Advocacy of Women’s Land Rights in Rural Regions” project
• 2006 – 2011, “Establishing Mechanisms in Companies to Prevent and Eliminate Sexual Harassment in the Workplace” project

Major Achievements

• 2010, prompted Hebei Xingtai Intermediate People’s Court to promulgate “Opinions on the Trial of Cases about Income Distribution Disputes in Rural Collective Economic Organizations”
• 2007, assisted Hebei Hengshui LaoBaigan Liquor Industry Co. to set up internal mechanisms to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace
• Through March 2011, successfully assisted six companies in establishing internal mechanisms to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace
• 2010 – 2011, supported 36 villages in amending their village regulations
• 2011, helped Hebei Jizhou to establish the first Non-Governmental Land Transfer Service Center in China, providing a better solution to the problem of land allocation for married and divorced rural women

Distinctions

We hold training sessions for grass-roots organizations, raise local cadres’ gender awareness, and improve local legislation. We work to change the culture of discrimination against women.
