Introduction

Providing psychological support for children and youths in difficult circumstances, while always working towards the goals of Morning Tears.

Morning tears is an international non-profit, non-political and non-religious charity organization, founded in 1999, with the main goal of helping children who suffer from deep emotional traumas.

Morning tears is registered in Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, the United States and has been working in close cooperation with the Chinese Government since 2001.

In 2009 morning tears received the International Friendship Award from the Chinese authorities, and in April 2010 the prestigious China Charity Award 2010, for more than 10 years to protect and assist children in China.

For the past 10 years, morning tears has helped to set legislative standards to protect and care for children whose parents are in prison.

Morning tears not only provides basic care such as: food, clothing, home-like housing, education, but also medical and psychological care to help children reintegrate into society. Currently morning tears operates a children’s homes in Zhengzhou in the Henan province, and provide support to centers in Xi’an and San Yuan as well as various family reunification projects. Morning tears uses high quality minimum standards for its care and protection of children and strives to convince other organizations and institutions to follow the same standards.

A key activity of morning tears is to provide training and advice for organizations, governmental agencies and individuals on how to help vulnerable and traumatized children.

Another key activity is the policy preparation work of morning tears. Morning tears is engaging with the Chinese Government to work out standard procedures for the reception, the dispatching, the information flow and responsibility of children when parents go to prison.
