Introduction

To help ensure the protection of the world’s environment and resources and promote sustainable development by providing assistance to China in resolving environmental problems.

This organisation was established in the United States in 1996 by a group of concerned scientists and professionals, including many US citizens of Chinese descent. It has four main areas of activity:Policy Advising IFCE has provided policy suggestion papers and recommendations to the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) since 2000. IFCE was praised by CPPCC as the overseas organization which has provided the most policy suggestions with the best quality in last decade. These suggestions directly contributed to environmental changes in China.NGO Development and Support From 1999 to 2007, IFCE organized five NGO forums on international environmental cooperation in China. Through the forums and other platforms, more than 300 Chinese NGO leaders have been trained. IFCE also provided training to nationwide college student leaders through the College Environmental Forum. In recent years, IFCE, in partner with other environmental groups, is sponsoring annual NGO conference, in which capacity building training for NGOs continues.

Technological Exchanges IFCE organizes missions to China and from China to promote professional and technological exchanges. These missions include environmental and energy industries, research institutes and government agencies. IFCE also organizes workshops, seminars and conferences to promote US-China cooperation and understanding on environmental and climate issues.

Public Education and Training IFCE has sponsored a number of projects to promote public awareness and community participation in environmental matters. IFCE also organizes green education tours in US for children and young leaders from China
