Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope
Founded in 1976 in the United States, Habitat for Humanity International builds simple, decent houses in partnership with low-income families in need through volunteer labor and donations.
Habitat for Humanity China was established in 2000 and merged its operation in Hong Kong and China into a single entity in 2006. Since 2006, HFH China has built, repaired or renovated more than 3,700 houses, serving over 10,100 Chinese in need of decent shelter. (Figures up till June 30, 2011)
HFH China works closely with local governments and partner organizations to achieve its mission of decent housing for all. In an effort to provide a “hand up” and not a “hand out”, most Habitat home partner families are provided with a no-profit, affordable loan to cover their construction costs. As the Habitat families repay their loan, these funds are used to build more houses for other families in China.
HFH China operates according to Habitat’s international standard of transparency, project quality and volunteer management principles. And it invites corporations, schools and community organizations to partner with HFH China in achieving shared mission of eliminating poverty housing.
