Chifeng Zhaowuda Women’s Sustainable and Development Association (CZWSDA) was established by Chifeng Women’s Federation and China International Center for Economic And Technical Exchanges (CICETE) on January 5, 2001, and is registered at civil affairs department as non-profit association. It is headed by a full time Secretary-General. The membership body is the highest authority and the board is entrusted with decision-making. The Secretariat is the executive body of CZWSDA. Today, there are three branches covering 10 townships, and 4 counties. The secretariat consists of 31 staff and there are more than 6000 members in the organization.
The mission of CZWSDA is to provide financial services as well as, technology, law, education, market services to women, particularly in low-income household, to promote local society, economics, environment and women’s sustainable development of the city by using the domestic and international financial and other support. CZWSDA main activities currently include microfinance, women’s development, children rescue and disaster relief projects.
The objective of CZWSDA is to become a sustainable MFI serving the poor women led by an independent management taking responsibility for its own results, self-development, and standardized operations with professional management system. As of September 2012, CZWSDA has reached cumulative loan disbursement at RMB200million (approx.$32million), the outstanding loan portfolio is more than 20.82 million. There are more than 25,500 households representing 103,000 people who have benefitted from our services. The repayment rate of loans has always been more than 99.5%, with the portfolio at risk (PAR) managed under 0.5%. We have achieved financial self-sustainability. A recent study using a sample survey method showed that among those families supported by CZWSDA, 96% of the families have recorded an increase in income with different degrees, 80% of the women believed their status in the society has improved significantly, and the participation of the women in different fields has been expanded largely.
