Alpha Communities

Working together with individuals and communities to create opportunities, realize potential and initiate change.

Established in 1994 to help the development of children in Mongolia, Alpha Communities opened a programme in Sichuan’s Liangshan Yi Minority Prefecture in 1997.

It helps children and young teenagers by providing scholarships for primary and middle school students, and also by helping their families with counseling, clothing, and medical supplies. Additional assistance includes teaching aids for the classrooms, extra-curricular programmes for children and their families and some training for the teachers.

Alpha Communities has also supported the construction of classroom and sanitary facilities for a primary school, further education for a village schoolteacher and sponsored children of farmer’s families in financial difficulties to attend high school.

As the organization grows Alpha Communities hopes to increase their ability to serve Sichuan communities by offering vocational training to young adults, offering support to families wanting to open small businesses.
