Introduction

Overview

The Alibaba Foundation, jointly established by Alibaba Group and its subsidiaries, is a national non-public foundation registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs in December 2011. Taking "clearer skies and warmer hearts" as its vision, the Foundation works with Alibaba Group, Partners Foundation and ecosystem partners towards three goals: rural revitalization, common prosperity, and lucid waters and lush mountains. The Foundation aims to promote efficiency in philanthropy using digital technologies across the ecosystem, boost rural revitalization with industrial linkage and other philanthropic practices, engage everyone in philanthropy by drawing on the platform, promote small and beautiful changes, and letting more people help more people. Alibaba Foundation keeps abreast with the times and connects with the community, aspiring to create more value for the society with other parties.

Organizational Structure

Organizational Structure of Alibaba Foundation

The Board performs the decision-making function, deliberating and approving major issues such as the Foundation's strategic plan, annual plan and budget through regular Board meetings convened and presided over by the President.

The Secretariat, as the executive agency of the Foundation, is headed by the Secretary-General, who is elected by the Board from among the Board members and is responsible for the day-to-day work of the Secretariat. The Secretariat breaks down into many departments, including project execution, administration, human resources, finance, taxation and legal affairs, etc.

Sun Lijun

Alibaba partner, President of Alibaba Foundation, Advanced Individual in the Prevention and Control of New Coronavirus Pandemic of Zhejiang Province in 2020.

After graduating from Zhejiang University with a degree in Computer Science in 2002, Sun Lijun joined Alibaba Group. Over the years, he has served as general manager for several regions of Alibaba B2B business group, with outstanding performance. He has created Rural Taobao, initiated the "9.5 Charity Week", and was responsible for the implementation of Alibaba's poverty alleviation fund, Alibaba's anti-pandemic philanthropy and other important tasks.

Over the years, he has always adhered to the Party's and national strategy, leading Alibaba to be at the forefront of philanthropic events, poverty alleviation, pandemic prevention and control and other important tasks. He carries the philanthropy mentality, using commercial methods and technical capabilities to explore innovative paths for green, inclusive and sustainable development.

Yan Meng

Director and Secretary-General of Alibaba Foundation, head of international philanthropy cooperation.

Yan Meng has 20 years of experience in the field of inclusive development and international finance. She was the senior director of the international organization cooperation of Ant Group, the chief investment officer of the World Bank Group, and the director of the Risk Management Division of the Financial Institutions Department of the Bank of China.

With an enthusiasm for developmental mission, global vision and experience in China, as well as financial investment experience in over 30 countries, she has gained in-depth insights and practical skills in the fields of inclusive finance, green development, and women's empowerment.

As a co-leader of the UN's Task Force on Digital Financing of Sustainable Development Goals, the director of the Green Digital Finance Alliance, she has established cooperative relations with various international partners to promote innovative cooperation between public departments and sci-tech enterprises towards sustainable development.
