                                                         TERMS OF REFERENCE

The tremendous gains in child health over the past 30 years are being threatened by climate change and environmental degradation. Patterns of disease among children are changing and children face multiple overlapping risks from extreme weather events, changing patterns of disease, air pollution, exposure to toxic chemicals and waste, antimicrobial resistance and unsafe built environments.

UNICEF and the Government of China will organize a Global Children’s Environmental Health Conference in November 2026 to highlight the growing importance of interventions required for children’s environmental health and to establish a global network of stakeholders who are committed to improving the lives of children worldwide.

This consultancy is designed to provide technical support to the CHD section for the preparation, conduct, monitoring and documentation of the Global Environmental Health Conference in November 2026. The consultant will primarily engage with the National institute of Environmental Health, CDC, China to coordinate and facilitate the technical components of the conference, in close collaboration with UNICEF HQ.

• Minimum requirements:
• Education: Master`s university degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Climate Health, Social Sciences, Social research, Development studies, Environment Sciences and/or any related disciplines
• Work Experience: At least 3 years of work experience in Environmental Health programs in China
• Skills (optional):

- Demonstrated experience or collaborative working with government institutions, preferably those under the NDCPA

- Good documentation and analytical skills

• Language Requirements: English & Chinese
• Desirables: Demonstrated experience on organizing/support of large national/international conferences is an asset
