Provide expert input in shaping the event agenda and developing supporting communication materials, based on their experience in international ESG collaboration and MSMEs engagement.
Responsibilities:
ESG Technical Advisory & Project Support
• Support the planning, coordination, and execution of activities under the UNDP SDG Innovation Pilot Project, with a particular focus on ESG transformation, international cooperation, and digital innovation for MSMEs.
• Provide input to ensure project activities are aligned with UNDP’s strategic objectives and respond to the practical needs of local stakeholders.
Agenda and Content Development
• Contribute to the design and structuring of the training agenda, including recommendations on thematic sessions, speakers, and overall program flow.
• Offer strategic input and subject matter guidance for key sessions, such as those focused on emission reduction, sustainable development, and digital supply chain tools for MSMEs.
Communication and Event Materials
• Provide technical support in the preparation and review of communication materials, including session overviews, speaker profiles, briefing notes, and participant handouts.
• Support the development of post-event materials, such as event summaries, evaluation reports, or media releases, as needed.
Institutional Arrangement
The ESG Specialist will work under the direct supervision of the Assistant Resident Representative of UNDP China. The Specialist is expected to support the preparation and delivery of activities related to the UNDP SDG Innovation Pilot Project, ensuring alignment with UNDP’s strategic priorities and operational standards.
Payment will be made only upon UNDP's acceptance of the work performed. The salary will be calculated by the daily rate and actual days worked.
Required Skills and Experience
Education:
Advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in Social Sciences, Communications, Sociology, Environmental Economics is required. OR
A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree) In the areas mentioned above, in combination with an additional two years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:
Minimum 7 years (with Bachelor’s degree) or 5 years (with Masters’s degree) of experience in developing and implementing communication strategies and content related to sustainable development, ESG, or climate issues.
Proficiency in the use of computers and office software packages.
Demonstrated expertise in sustainable development, the social dimensions of environmental management, climate mitigation and adaptation, and climate-related risks and impacts is desirable.
Strong background in ESG policy, green finance, and sustainability advocacy, including experience with capacity-building, stakeholder engagement, and international project coordination is a plus.
Experience in research, publication, or consulting related to environmental policy, risk analysis, or global sustainability agendas is preferred.
