On May 15, in celebration of the 32nd International Day of Families, the “Beauty of Silhouette” Week was launched in Jiangsu Province. Co‑sponsored by UNICEF China and Jiangsu Silhouette Technology Development Company, the initiative aims to support girls’ diverse needs by promoting healthy growth and holistic development. The event brought together over 400 participants—including girls, mothers, and government leaders—to honor the importance of family education and women’s empowerment.
In her welcome speech, Kang Li, Vice‑Chair of the Jiangsu Women’s Federation, highlighted the vital connection between individual wellbeing, family harmony, and national progress. She affirmed that the “Beauty of Silhouette” initiative will continue to expand educational resources and opportunities for girls and families across Jiangsu. Zhu Dongyun, Deputy Secretary‑General of UNICEF China, noted that hosting the event on the International Day of Families underscores a commitment to implementing President Xi Jinping’s guidance on family education and culture values. She urged parents to embrace their responsibility in passing on ideals that help children take their first steps toward personal development.
Following the opening ceremony, Jiangsu Silhouette Technology donated 2 million yuan to UNICEF China. Additionally, Professor Xu Yan of the Jiangsu Calligraphy Academy and Professor Liu Jia of Nanjing University presented original artworks and calligraphy to support the cause.
Event highlights included an exhibition of AI‑powered artwork and a heartfelt testimony from Rui Yongmei, a longtime advocate who has spent the past decade improving the lives of vulnerable children. A “Love and Beauty” workshop offered mothers training in traditional culture, family virtues, and communication skills. Many participants shared that the workshop helped strengthen marital harmony and deepen family bonds.
Looking ahead, UNICEF China’s “Beauty of the Silhouette” project will continue to promote family wellbeing by introducing school support programs, vocational skills training, and psychological care—laying a strong foundation for nurturing the next generation.
