Founded in 2006, Non-Profit Incubator (NPI) aims to promote social innovation and support charity organizations in China. NPI helps charity organizations to build capacity, contribute to the community, construct platforms and establish partnerships. Their projects are in a wide range of fields, including but not limited to elderly care, education, environmental protection, poverty alleviation, supporting the disabled, and community service.
NPI sees their non-profit incubator model as a major institutional innovation that is replicable in China. In this model, NPI provides resource platforms, financial assistance, public space, capacity building and support for registration to emerging charity organizations. This model has supported more than 3,000 organizations, funded more than 1,000 social organizations, and trained thousands of professionals working in charities.
NPI also started a professional training programmed named “Dopamine” to build capacity for charity organizations. “Dopamine” offers more than 6,000 online courses in project management, online fundraising, social entrepreneurship, community building, introduction to philanthropy and general skills. Since 2008, NPI is also a pioneer in offering services to Chinese neighborhoods in 50 cities.
In 2019, NPI updated its mission to “construct a supporting system for social development.” NPI aims to focus on multiple factors in the charity ecosystem, such as encouraging policy change, enhancing human capital, and providing resources. Currently, NPI has more than 50 work stations in China and registered offices in 19 cities. By 2020 December, NPI has founded more than 30 organizations, foundations and enterprises across China.
