The Ministry of Civil Affairs held a press conference on June the 13th, during which Deputy Director of the Administration of Civil Organizations An Ning introduced the newly published Notice on Setting up Press Spokespeople in National and Provincial-level Social Organizations by the Ministry of Civil Affairs. The Deputy Director said that setting up a system of regular press spokespeople for social organizations will be of great help for them to carry out efficient work concerning public opinion, enhance administrative transparency and deliver positive energy to all sectors of society.
The notice outlines a general plan by which the system will gradually be established. The plan is divided into three stages: all nationwide associations and public-fundraising foundations should set up press spokespeople by the end of this year; other social organizations registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs and province-level administrations should set up spokespeople by the end of 2017; and social organizations registered with city/county-level administrations should set up spokespeople as soon as possible.
It was also reported that in the near future, the Ministry of Civil Affairs will organize two special training courses and publish a list of social organizations nationwide which have already appointed a spokesperson, as well as the spokespeople’s contacts.
