The Global Outstanding Social Entrepreneur Award was presented to He Daofeng, the former Executive President of China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation (CFPA), at the Global CSR Summit held by the Global CSR Foundation (GCSRF) in New York on 15th October 2019.
GCSRF is a US-registered non-profit organisation, dedicated to empowering corporations, organisations and individuals to participate in the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. At the summit, the Global Outstanding NGO Social Responsibility Award and the Global Sustainable City Award were also given to the SEE Conservation and Qingdao city, respectively.
He Daofeng, an economist by training and an entrepreneur in spirit, led the CFPA for 17 years and turned it into a major NGO with poverty reduction and humanitarian-aid programs in China and ten other countries. Its funds grew from $2.5 million in 1999 to $90 million in 2015.
In 2014, He Daofeng received the Olga Alexeeva Memorial Prize for his contribution to philanthropic work in social improvements. He retired from his daily business operations and from CFPA in 2015. He now lives in the United States with his family. While writing a book on ethics and faith, he and his wife, Angela, are seeking to support grassroots NGOs that share the couple’s vision.
