1. Lauch of the 10th “Star of Humanity” International Law Online Knowledge Competition

On August 12, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), in collaboration with Xinhua News Agency, the International Academy of Red Cross, and several other organizations, officially launched the 10th “Humanitarian “Star of Humanity” International Humanitarian Law Online Knowledge Competition. The competition aims to promote knowledge of international humanitarian law and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. It will run until September 11.

2. China-Africa Hospital Alliance Established in Beijing.

From August 15 to 17, “China-Africa Hospital Alliance was inaugurated during the 31st China International Medical Equipment Fair and Exchange. At the same event, the large-scale medical model Xihe-1 was officially unveiled. The exhibition, hosted by the International Health Exchange and Cooperation Center of the National Health Commission, was held under the theme “Meeting Health Challenges Together, Seeking Development Opportunities Together.” Health ministers from African countries including Gabon, Zambia, Cameroon, Sao Tome and Principe, and Mauritius, as well as African ambassadors to China and more than 300 hospital administrators and medical professionals from both China and Africa attended.

The China-Africa Hospital Alliance, guided by the principle of consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits, seeks to integrate high-quality medical resources and establish a sustainable system of cooperation. The alliance plans to an annual China-Africa Hospital Development Conferences, featuring the release of alliance achievements, academic and technical seminars, and experience-sharing sessions.

3. The 7th Belt and Road Medical rescue Conference convened in Beijing.

On August 16, 2025, the 7th Belt and Road Medical Rescue Conference was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. With the theme “Building a Community of Health for All, Mapping a New Blueprint for International Medical Rescue”, the event was co-hosted by the China Red Cross Foundation and the International Exchange and Cooperation Center of the National Health Commission.

At the same time, the inaugural expert meeting of the China-Africa Hospital Alliance Joint Working Group on International Emergency Medical Rescue was convened. More than 60 participating experts engaged in discussions on topics such as “The Current Situation and Needs of Emergency Care in Africa” and “The Medical Rescue and Health Training Needs of Chinese Institutions and Personnel in Africa”.

The conference, aligned with the Belt and Road Initiative, is committed to advancing the development of international emergency medical rescue, with a people-centered approach to safeguarding the health and safety of Chinese citizens overseas.
