1. Symposium on Chinese Social Organizations “Going Global” from a Global Governance Perspective Held at Tsinghua University
On August 3, 2025, the “Symposium on Chinese Social Organizations ‘Going Global’ from a Global Governance Perspective”, was convened at the School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University. The event was hosted by the Institute for 21st Century Development Studies of Tsinghua University.
The symposium featured five sub-forums:
- Systems and Strategies for Chinese Social Organizations “Going Global”
- Legitimacy and Influence of Chinese Social Organizations “Going Global”
- Collaborative Innovation and Experience Sharing: Practical Explorations of Chinese Social Organizations in Global Governance
- Roles and Pathways of Chinese Social Organizations” Going Global”
- Transformation of Global Governance System and the Role R-shaping of Chinese Social Organizations
Experts and scholars from domestic and international universities, research institutes, and practice-oriented organizations, as well as editors of leading academic journals, participated. The symposium provided a platform to jointly explore opportunities, challenges and future pathways for the internationalization of Chinese social organizations in the evolving context of global governance.

2. 2025 China Volunteer Doctors’ African Free Clinic Action Launched in Ethiopia
On August 7, 2025, the opening ceremony of the 2025 Chinese Volunteer Doctors’ African Free Clinic Action and International Volunteer Medical initiative (Minin Action) was held at the Addis Ababa Silk Road General Hospital, in Ethiopia’s capital.
Attendees included Ethiopian President Taye Atske-Selasie, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia Chen Hai, senior officials from both countries, and more than 30 Chinese volunteer doctors and volunteers.
Professor Ling Feng, founder of the Beijing Lingfeng Foundation and initiator of the China Volunteer Doctors program, announced that the team had arrived with medical supplies valued at RMB 3 million. On the first day, the doctors conducted nearly 100 free consultations, performed several surgeries, and sponsored 3 children to receive treatment in China.
Over the following two weeks, the team plans to carry out more than 100 surgeries, deliver academic lectures, and extend free clinic services to other Ethiopian provinces, further strengthening China-Ethiopia medical cooperation and jointly promoting a “Healthy Silk Road.”

3. China-Latin America Webinar on Climate Change: COP30 Preparatory Meeting Successfully Held
On August 8, 2025, the China-Latin America Webinar on Climate Change – COP30 Preparatory Meeting was successfully held, co-hosted by Beijing E-Share Civil Society Information Center (China Development Brief) and GlobalGiving (United States).
Three Chinese institutions, China Association for NGO Cooperation (CANGO), CTeam, Green Camel Bell, joined three Latin American organizations, Fundo Casa (Brazil), Latinamerica Sustentable (Ecuador), and Derecho, Ambiente y Recursos Naturales (DAR, Peru).
Participants presented their core climate initiatives and focused discussions on COP30 cooperation opportunities in areas including resilient community building, climate education, biodiversity conservation, and climate mitigation and adaptation. The meeting laid a solid foundation for strengthening China-Latin America civil society collaboration on climate issues.

4. Completion Ceremony for Well Projects in Chinese Villages in Chiang Rai, Thailand
On August 9, 2025, a completion ceremony for well projects in three Chinese villages—Mangkang, Wanta, and Maesile First Village—in Mae Fa Luang District, Chiang Rai Province, Thailand, was held.
Participants included Chen Haiping, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Chiang Mai, representatives from Beijing Peaceland Foundation, BYD Auto (Thailand), and OPPO Thailand, as well as local officials and villagers.
Northern Thailand’s mountainous regions have long faced water shortages, restricting local livelihood and the development of Chinese-language schools. To address this, the Chinese Consulate General in Chiang Mai, funded and implemented well drilling and water supply projects.
The three wells will provide sustainable water access for over 1,000 local households. Additionally, with support from the Consulate General, a separate well project was completed at Yunxing Middle School in Longchuan Village, Fang County, Chiang Mai. This project now ensures clean water for 150 teachers and students and daily water supply for more than 240 nearby households, benefiting over 800 villagers.
