Establishing a charity law: releasing the strength of charity
慈善立法:释放更多的慈善能量

Editor Liang Heng (梁恒), Banyuetan (半月谈网), February 20, 2013

Interview with head of Beijing Normal China Philanthropy Research Center Wang Zhenyao on the need for a charity law. Dr. Wang stresses the need for standardized and comprehensive regulations concerning the charity sector, and argues that a charity law would help to define the scope of charity, lower the threshold for NGO registration, and regulate asset flow. He also advocates for the formation of an NPC Charity Committee, so that scandals such as the Guo Meimei incident (concerning a corrupt Chinese Red Cross employee) can be dealt with and resolved in a timely fashion.
