Heungkong Charitable Foundation, China’s first non-public charitable foundation numbered 001 registered with the Ministry of Civil Affairs, was established and funded by Heungkong Group on June 14, 2005.
For more than a decade, Heungkong Group has donated more than RMB 1.6 billion to the society, and the Heungkong Charitable Foundation, by always focusing on the four major areas of education, poverty alleviation, salvation and disaster relief, has directly helped over 4 million people, with its love footprint seen in 23 provinces across China and some Chinese-speaking communities in Myanmar.
The Foundation has successively built more than 1,677 Heungkong Charitable Libraries for schools in rural areas in Chinese provinces such as Guangdong, Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan and Henan as well as in some Chinese-speaking communities in Myanmar, donated books to over 2 million students, provided assistance to over 1.8 million people affected by AIDS, helped more than 80 thousand handicapped children and elderly people, provided mental health services to more than 20 thousand children in rural areas, provided growth care to more than 3 thousand orphans, paid surgery costs for over 2,000 poverty stricken cataract patients, granted scholarships to nearly 1,000 excellent university students, offered interest-free start-up loans to over 500 women in rural areas, constructed houses for 300 single mothers and assisted over 100 deaf children. The size of its volunteer team now has reached over 20,000 volunteers who have participated in more than 200,000 philanthropy events.
After fifteen years of trials and hardships, the Heungkong Charitable Foundation has undertaken the mission of “giving back to society through dedication of love”, adhered to the vision of “making philanthropy a kind of culture”, inspired people's kindness with donations and charities, and thus helped create a harmonious society.
