Beijing Sun Villages

Providing free care and education to the children of the incarcerated.

Goals

To take care of the basic needs of the children of the incarcerated, and to provide special education, psychological counseling, rights protection, and employment training services. To provide a large, warm family so that these children, like other children, can receive protection, education, and healthy development.

Major Projects

• Support: From 2004 – 2005, we established Sun Villages in Henan and Beijing.
• Sponsorship: In collaboration with the Bureau of Prisons, providing annual subsidies for children's living, medical, education, and parental visitation expenses.
• Caretaking: From 1996 – 2012, we have supported more than 5,000 children in 20 provinces.
• Fundraising: July 5, 2010, the China Charities Aid Foundation for Children collaborated with Sun Village to set up a Sun Village Fund so that we can carry out public fund-raising.

Major Achievements

Our institution's success was cited in a document from six ministries of the central government, which stated “... use Sun Village and similar methods to assist Civil Affairs Department in caring for the children of the incarcerated.”
