Sirimba School Model: Pioneering Sustainable Education Through Design & Renewable Energy
Sirimba School Model – Major Activities & Accomplishments
1. Project Concept & Development
o Designed as a self-sustaining, solar-powered school model to provide quality education to underserved communities.
o KJ Kapeua Combined School selected as the pilot site, setting the foundation for future expansion.
2. Renewable Energy Integration
o 40MW solar plant with battery storage to generate revenue and fund school operations.
o Vocational training in renewable energy & sustainability to equip students with practical skills.
3. Global Architectural Design Competition
o Launched in collaboration with Archstorming (https://www.archstorming.com/).
o Features an elite jury, including Zaha Hadid Architects and Daniel Libeskind Studio.
o Aims to attract world-class designs for the school’s sustainable infrastructure.
4. Strategic Partnerships & Endorsements
o Gained endorsement from WiRE (Women in Renewable Energy Canada) to expand outreach and collaboration.
o Secured government backing, including full support from Hon. Peter Katjavivi and local authorities.
o Engaging potential sponsors and institutional funders to support the prize pool and implementation.
5. Community Impact & Scalability
o Integrates sustainable agriculture, aquaponics, and circular economy principles to enhance food security.
o Model designed for replication across Namibia, providing long-term economic, social, and environmental sustainability.
The Sirimba School Model is set to redefine education, energy, and infrastructure development, positioning Namibia as a leader in sustainable education innovation.
