The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is a private German association that supports the internationalization of German universities by providing scholarships to German and international academics.
DAAD’s China representative office was established in 1994. In China, DAAD aims at supporting young Chinese scholars in German universities and research institutes, as well as German students and academics in China. DAAD also works on promoting the cooperation between German and Chinese universities and providing information on study and research in Germany. DAAD now has information centers in Beijing and Shanghai. In 2014, DAAD scholarships have benefited over 1500 Chinese recipients and over 1500 German recipients.
