Anhui meeting of the NPC and CPPCC focuses on government procurement of public services
地方两会关注政府购买公共服务
China Financial and Economic News (中国财经报), January 29, 2013
At Anhui provincial meeting of the NPC and the CPPCC (known as the lianghui), representatives eagerly discussed the utilization of government procurement of public services as a method of addressing social concerns. According to the China Financial and Economic News, government procurement of public services was a “hot topic” at the meeting, as representatives discussed methods to use people’s welfare projects and public service projects to resolve problems in urban hygiene, community health, care for the elderly and the disabled, and education. Because the development of such services requires the government to “retreat” from their operations, representatives called for the government to allow social organizations to grow and develop.
