Job Description

Location:             Beijing, China

Reports To:         Officer & Research Fellow, International Climate Affairs

Duration:             8 months with possibility to extend

 

In summary, Consultant will perform the following work for EF China:

Helping development of international collaboration strategy for EF China; Drafting background papers and other written document; Conducting interview of experts; Organizing Track II dialogues and meetings.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Strategy development

  • Conduct brief and targeted literature review, contributing to specific needs for concepts, background, references, and data as well as other supporting elements program strategy development.
  • Draft slides, background papers, meeting summaries and other materials related to the EF China international collaboration strategy and track II dialogues, including but not limited to slides, background papers, policy notes, among others.
  • Assist interviewing experts. Interview assigned experts, and prepare experts’ view summary. Transfer expert view as inputs for the International Collaboration Strategy.
  • Lead the organization of the experts’ working meetings and other related activities for development of international collaboration strategy, including but not limited to founder tables, expert consultation meetings, EF China internal consultation meetings.
  • Coordinate closely with internal and external experts, vendors and partners related to international collaboration strategy, and track II activities.
  • Conduct external landscape analysis in collaboration with funders, grantees, multilaterals, and other relevant stakeholders as needed.

Collaboration and Partnership 

  • Proactively work with other colleagues in collaborative projects;
  • Share knowledge, expertise, critical information and networks with other colleagues and/or partners under guidance to increase support and demonstrate shared purpose;
  • Maintain the list of partners for the program, assist in inviting international and domestic experts to support EF China’s stakeholders.

Others 

  • Assist Director or Officer to draft reporting materials;
  • Work closely with other colleagues to support the important events as required;
  • Translate written materials from English to Chinese or vice versa as required;
  • Undertake additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned;
  • Other related duties, as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Education: Master degree or above, preferably in a related field of energy, energy policies and economics, international relations, political science or other related majors. Deep knowledge and understanding in energy/climate issues, low carbon development, the roles of global climate governance.
  • Working Experience: minimum 5 years of related working experience in the areas of energy/climate issues, low carbon development, the roles of global climate governance. Deep interest in the subject matter of global climate governance, clean energy diplomacy, and green recovery issues.
  • English level: Strong ability to communicate proficiently in both spoken and written English. English Native Speaker is a plus.
  • Analysis and synthesis: strong skills in data accuracy and ability to examine and interpret a wide variety of data, and synthesize the data and develop a recommended course of action.
  • Problem solving skills: Ability to use logics to solve complicated problems independently.
